Year 2 Visual Arts

Wonderful to see the Year 2's again, its amazing to see how much they have grown. This time of year, there are so many beautiful flowers in the bush, I've decided to a teach a program on Botanical Art. We have started lessons with discussions about the plant, learning their scientific name and exploring the plant specimens with a magnifying glass. Last week, we looked at the Hibbertia plant, commonly known as the Buttercup. At the moment, with the wattle, its bright yellow flowers are brightening up our local landscape. Traditionally, the Hibbertia plant was crushed up into a pulp and used by Wardandi people as an antiseptic for cuts and wounds.
I have been very proud of the Year 2's standard of observational drawings, and most importantly their attitude and willingness to learn.
