Geographe Primary hosted a "Seeing it in Action Day" today. Fifteen teachers from schools around the state visited Geographe to learn more about effective teaching practices in spelling and vocabulary and had the opportunity to visit classrooms and see lessons in action. Mrs Jodie Goss, Mrs Sue-Ellen Phillips and Miss Tew for opened their classrooms and demonstrated some key elements in these areas. Ms Jennifer Moyle also shared her incredible wealth of English knowledge with the group. Geographe Primary School is a Teacher Development School in English and the Seeing it in Action Day is part of that initiative.
Joan Godfrey has been a regular mentor at Geographe Primary since 2007. Today she visited the school to say goodbye. At 94 years of age she has decided to retire from mentoring. Thank you Joan, we are all going to miss you.
Staff spent the afternoon looking at data from SOCS, On Entry and Oxford Literacy Assess. They will interrogate this data to find out what it indicates, why they think it is so and what are the trends that are occurring across the year levels.
